PAC is back! Players Against Cancer 2024 will be played here at Hollow Rock on Saturday, April 20, 2024 starting at 2pm.
PAC registration is now open to all tennis players in our community ages 18 and over, and all non-players who want to join in the fun. Due to scheduled court resurfacing in March, we will not register for pickleball at this time. This event is open to members and non-members.
You can register for PAC through the website or via the QR code on the PAC flyer. Registration is limited to 76 tennis players and unlimited to non-players.
Play will consist of three consecutive rounds (40 minutes each) of doubles and mixed doubles. Matt will assign pairings for each round based on NTRP rating.
The cost of registration is $50/player and $20/ non-player with benefits going for research at Duke Cancer Institute. Thanks to you, PAC 2023 raised $14,000 for DCI and we hope to exceed that amount in 2024!
PAC will also include snacks and water during play with a wonderful spread of food and beverages afterwards. Additionally, we will have a tennis exhibition with area pros and a “fastest serve” challenge!
The popular Wine Pull will return again ! The $20 corks sold out in one hour last year so purchase yours quickly for a mystery bottle of wine valued at a minimum of $20!
Our Silent Auction will also be bigger and better! It will go “live” on Monday, April 8th and you can begin bidding on some fabulous items and activities!

Our annual Spring Eggstravaganza will be on Saturday March 23 at 9:00am.
We are excited to have the folks from Sunrise CFC come back again this year with some small animals and bunnies for the kids to meet. There will also be crafts for the kids, and a light breakfast for everyone.
We will send a schedule for the hunt closer to the date of the event.

Come celebrate St. Patrick's Day by sharing your favorite dish or desert. There will be an organized tennis mixer at 10:30am before lunch. At 12:00pm, join us after your swim, tennis or pickleball for a potluck lunch. We welcome all members to join in this event. Beer will be provided, we even have GREEN Beer this year!
In order to ensure we get a good variation of dishes, we will divide up the types of food everyone brings by alphabet.

Music will be played starting at 3:00pm, and at 4:30pm any member can come up and play with the musicians for a freestyle jam session. Refreshments will be served.

Let's celebrate our love of tennis, pickleball and/or swimming with the highly anticipated return of the ladies' lunch! This event will start with a tennis mixer and pickleball open play at 10:30am (weather permitting), followed by a catered lunch. We will have door prizes, gifts, and lots of goodies. Door prizes include a "bottom" of your choice from lululemon, a new tennis bag, and much more. Lunch will be catered by Nuvo Taco. More details about this event will come out in future newsletters.

On Wednesday December 13, we will have a ladies tennis mixer and pickleball open play followed by a holiday party. If you want to participate in the cookie exchange, bring 3 dozen cookies to share with others. Bring a clean cookie container to bring home the goodies! We will also have snacks and appetizers for a light lunch.

The Premakumar family is organizing the second annual memorial run to help raise money for the Lung Cancer Initiative of NC and to honor their wife and mother Jodi. Jodi Koviach was a member of the Hollow Rock community who died from lung cancer in October 2021.
Everyone is welcome to come out and support this great cause.

October 28-29 will be the adult doubles and mixed events. Deadline for doubles registration is end of day Monday October 23. Cost is $25 per registration.

Our Oktoberfest celebration is this Friday October 20 at 6pm. Cost per adult will be $25, and kids eat free (child registration is listed below with a separate link). Deadline to register is end of day Wednesday October 18.
We will have brats, chicken and additional festive sides, as well as Oktoberfest beer and activities for the kids. Member, Lex Larson and his band will be our musical entertainment for this event. This is always a fun event, we and hope to see you all there!

Join HR Tennis Director Matt Nicholson, UNC Head Coach Brian Kalbas and Associate Head Coach Tyler Thompson and members of the National Champions UNC Women’s Tennis Team. Members of the UNC Women's Tennis Team will play doubles with groups of three Hollow Rock members. Also, Coach Kalbas will conduct a high-energy clinic.
Hollow Rock Members will have the opportunity to meet and play with members of the team and participate in drills led by Coach Kalbas.

Hollow Rock will partner with Swim for Charlie again this fall to help teach local school children life saving swimming skills. The organizers for this event are looking for volunteers to teach water safety/swimming skills to local 2nd graders. Please contact Anna Varnell or Jade Peterson from Swim for Charlie for more information about helping out at this event.

Our Labor Day festivities are coming up on Monday **September 4**.

Our cafe will have a holiday meal offering for $10 a plate. You will have a choice of one protein (barbecue chicken or pulled pork) and a choice of sides including pasta salad, green salad, green beans, and potato salad.
Food will be available from **11am-3pm.**
In the afternoon, we will have our traditional pool games. More details will be announced in next week's newsletter.
**No guests will be permitted on Labor Day.**
On Sunday August 27, from 3-5pm, we will have an assortment of some local beers to sample by the family pool. We will have beer from the following breweries:

This annual event is one of our most popular tennis events of the year! There are 6 teams consisting of 1 teaching pro who will captain the team and 9 member players. Each team competes to win the Hollow Rock Cup! Space is limited. $25 per player, lunch included.
Ping Pong Tournament
This will be a single elimination tournament, first to 11 points wins. Sign ups will begin at 2:30pm the day of the event, and play will begin at 3:00pm.
