Summer Cafe Manager

We would like to give the great opportunity to undertake managing the operations of our pool-side café this summer. You will be responsible for all aspects of the café operations and create a menu, set quality standards, and manage labor/inventory costs. This full-time role will require a minimum of 40+ hours per week. You must be available at least 30 hours per week (need to be flexible to work weekends) to work in the kitchen in shifts where your responsibilities will include:

  • Maintain storage, inventory and utilization of product.

  • Ability to work all stations as needed.

  • Oversees cooking, service and delivery of food.

  • Maintains high standards of cleanliness in café and dining area.

  • Able to use and comprehend the POS system.

Additional time outside the kitchen (10 + hours per week) will include the following responsibilities:

  • Create the staffing schedule.

  • Hiring, training and terminating of staff as needed.

  • Sourcing and shopping for food products and inventory

Head Swim Coach

The Hollow Rock/Stoneridge Piranhas Summer Swim Team is seeking one experienced Head Coach for the 2019 swim season. The Piranhas are a well-established team located in Durham, NC. We are looking for a high-energy, motivated individual to lead approximately (150+) swimmers of all ability levels in our summer swim league, as well as coordinate and manage our assistant and junior coaches. Afternoon practices begin the Monday, May 13. Once local schools have ended for the school year, practices are held in the morning as well from 9:00-10:00 Monday-Friday.

Swim Meets are held on Wednesday evenings and Saturday mornings throughout Chapel Hill until mid-July, with our Championship meet, held the third weekend in July.

The ideal candidate would have head coaching experience, strong leadership and communication skills, the ability to connect with children from grades K-12, and an infectious enthusiasm for the sport of swimming. The candidate will work closely with Board members and junior coaching staff to carry out the many day-to-day responsibilities of the coaching staff.

The responsibilities of the job include:

  • Promote a fun, safe, and team-oriented environment

  • Be a role model for the swimmers, especially in the older age groups

  • Identify age- and skill-appropriate drills for each age group to include stroke, starts, turns, etc…

  • Plan and run practices for each age group

  • Maintain control and safety of swimmers

  • Provide stroke technique instruction to beginning, intermediate, and advanced swimmers

  • Coordinate logistics for each swim meet for swimmers and parents

  • Prepare meet lineups (Swimmingly - previously Hydrosphere experience desired)

  • Review meet results (including disqualification issues) and work with swimmers to improve performance

  • Maintain organization of swimmers prior to and during swim meets

  • Work with the Board to organize and attend swim team events, as well as other various team-sponsored social activities

  • Provide an encouraging environment while fostering learning and team spirit

  • Willingness to get in the water to fine tune stroke mechanics

  • Help with setup and breakdown of all practices and swim meets

  • Assist in the hiring of assistant and junior coaching staff (as needed), and managing staff throughout the season

Required Qualifications:

  • Experience as a head coach, or extensive experience as an Assistant Coach (preferred)

  • US Swim Coach Certification or equivalent

  • Valid CPR/AED, First-Aid certification

  • College Degree (preferred)

  • Strong organizational skills

  • Effective communications skills (for children and parents)

Under general supervision, ensures the safety of patrons of an aquatic facility by preventing and responding to emergencies.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Maintains constant surveillance of patrons in the facility; acts immediately and appropriately to secure safety of patrons in the event of emergency.

  2. Provides emergency care and treatment as required until the arrival of emergency medical services.

  3. Presents professional appearance and attitude at all times, and maintains a high standard of customer service.

  4. Performs various maintenance duties as directed to maintain a clean and safe facility.

  5. Prepares and maintains appropriate activity reports.

  6. Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Job requirements:

Less than high school with 6 months to 1 year experience directly related to the duties and responsibilities specified. CPR Certified; Current certification as Lifeguard by a recognized source of training.

Camp Counselor

The Camp Counselor is responsible for planning, leading, and implementing core and non-core programs and experiences for children in a small group setting.  They will also be responsible for the general safety and development, growth, and skill achievement of the participants in the camp.

Responsibilities include:

  1. Organize and lead a variety of small and large group activities each week. Activities may include crafts, nature, songs, games, opening and closing ceremonies, swimming, archery.

  2. Identify and respond to camper behavior issues.

  3. Ensure that the site is kept clean, organized, and free of litter.

  4. Communicate with parents about participant’s experiences and report concerns to Management.

  5. Assist in maintaining accurate program records including incident reports, logbook documentation, and daily attendance.

  6. Know and understand ALL emergency procedures associated with the camp program.

  7. Know, enforce, and follow all safety guidelines associated with the camp and all program areas. This includes but is not limited to being responsible for your campers’ safety and their whereabouts at all times.

  8. Help guide Junior Counselors and Camp Volunteers to have a deeper understanding of leadership and counseling skills.
